Born in 1974, lives and works in Helsinki.

Sarjoissa ”Piilo” ja ”Korvaaminen” sekä kuvaparissa ”6.4.2007” ja ”5.10.1998” näyttäytyy Aution kiinnostus valokuvan kerroksellisuutta ja läpinäkymättömyyttä kohtaan. ”Piilo” -sarjassa kohtaavat ja törmäävät aikuisen ja lapsen kokemusmaailmat. ”Korvaamisessa” tutkitaan yritystä muuttaa ja unohtaa henkilökohtaista historiaa korvaamalla ja poistamalla muistia tukevia rakenteita. Kuvaparissa ”6.4.2007” ja ”5.10.1998” kohdennetaan aikaan. Auringon säteet osuvat ensin 5.10.1998 rantanäkymään Islannissa ja pyyhkäisevät sitten tuosta hetkestä otetun valokuvan yli vuosia myöhemmin Helsingissä. 

”Näkökulmat” -kuvaparissa Autio on kuvannut ikkunanäkymät kohti pihaa kerrostalon kahdesta eri huoneistosta. Teos liittyy häntä kiehtovaan teemaan ihmisten kohtaamisesta ja toistensa ymmärtämisestä ja ymmärtämättömyydestä.

Pasi Autio käyttää välineenään videota ja valokuvaa.

The series “Hiding Place” and “Replacement” as well as the images “6.4.2007” and “5.10.1998” show Autio’s interest towards the multilayered and opaque character of photography. In “Hiding Place” adults and children’s ways to experience the world meet and collide. “Replacement” deals with attempts of altering and forgetting personal histories by means of replacing and deleting memory-supporting structures. The pair “6.4.2007” and “5.10.1998” deals with time. Sunlight first hits a beach landscape in Island and then, years later in Helsinki, sweeps over a photograph taken from that moment.

In “Viewpoints” Autio has photographed the same view from the windows of two different apartments. The work deals with a theme that fascinates Autio: people encountering, understandings and misunderstandings each other.

Autio utilises both video and photography.
